Love was his own form of revenge.

I was chit-chatting with a few friends yesterday and one of them, Mr. Richard, took us aback to when Hausas were killing Ibos and he told us about his gate man, Mr. Sule.

He said, while the killings were going on, in the north, Ibos started killing Hausas in the east and Mr. Sule got scared for his life and wanted to travel to the north were he believes he would be safer but my friend, his oga asked him not to go and promised him that he would protect him with his life and he did even though he was Ibo and Mr. Sules brothers were killing his brothers in the north. His nieces husband was even butchered to death in her presence.

Mobs would come around the vicinity searching for Hausas to mame but Richard kept his gate man safe and even though the mobs knew that Mr. Richard had a gate man who might still be around, they dared not bother him because Mr. Richard is highly respected. Mr. Richard even went as far as protecting this man with a gun and two rottweilers.

He gave him a three bedroom apartment in his compound in Enugu where he, Mr. Sule and his pregnant wife stayed. When his wife was going to give birth he asked Mr. Sule and his wife to stay in Enugu and give birth to their child so he can take care of them, considering the fact that she was young and might have complications during child birth.

Why this story? Mr. Richard said something. He said, his brothers were being killed in the north, what should he have done to get back at them but to show his gate man love.

Love was his own way of revenging against the killing of his brothers in the north and the gruesome murder of nieces husband.

Love goes a long way to heal, inspire, and even change an evil heart.

Imagine the impact that Mr. Richards actions must have made even in the north were he wasn't present. Mr. Sules wife's father now bring Mr. Richard one goat every time he brings goats to Enugu to sell. Imagine how many evil hearts plotting to aid or abet the killings in the north would have been changed after listening to Mr. Sules wife's fathers love story.

Love does it. No matter how embarrassing it may seem to show someone love sometimes, just do it. The harder it is for you to show love in a particular situation, the more fulfilled you will be be if you actually venture it.

I love you too.
